From Knowing to Doing

How to Initiate Change and Stick with It

Intellectually, many of us know what we need to do to meet certain wellness goals. For example, if we want to eat healthier, we need to actively make different food choices. But it’s not always easy to do. This workshop aims to see these challenges as perfectly normal, and work on developing the skills necessary for altering our behavior. We’ll plan for typical pitfalls by providing practical strategies that will result in lasting change.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (in-person)

This is the gold-standard of mindfulness training. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn 45 years ago at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, this program is the foundation for all mindfulness-based programs and scientific research on mindfulness. LVHN Center for Mindfulness has offered this program for 20 years. The program takes place over eight weeks in 2 ½ hour classes and includes a half-day retreat. Participants are given support to develop their own daily mindfulness practice. Time is allocated to explore and communicate the benefits of mindfulness. A detailed manual is provided that includes background information, enrichment exercises, and resources for continued practice. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, we will again offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reductionin the spring and fall of 2022.
